or ...

Try driving along quite happy to yourself only a few blocks from home when a red Mondeo pulls out in front, looks very similar to your one, same model, same year, you scan the number plate and it's very similar to yours as well (cant remember the full plate) and you think 'That b@stard has stolen my car !!' your stomach tightens. Thoughts are running through your head and your cursing yourself for having left your mobile at home, and you start following them. Not letting them out of your sight for 2 miles til you suddenly realise ....

Your driving the red mondeo that you thought was nicked

I felt like a right moron

Well I I did this a few years ago now I worked about 8 miles from home and when my shift was to finish at 8.00pm I always dropped a couple of people home.
Well off we set dropped Brian off then Sue and carried on home pulled up on the drive and a small voice said "excuse me I don't live here," it was Jenny a young girl about 17ish who had started work about a month before and I had clean forgot I'd given her a lift she was so quiet I had to drive her home. For weeks after people would only get in the car after they'd taken the "P" out of me. It took her a couple of months to get back in the car with me once she'd realised I was slightly odd all the time. Never worked out if that was a compliment or not

Now I'd do something like that honestly, I reported my car stolen to the security guard once till someone mentioned to me quietly I'd changed my car.

It wasn't me honest, my neighbour was a the shops, got back in "her" car sat there thinking something didn't feel right. It was a manual and her one is automatic. Exit one very embarassed lady.
Also
Hubby took sister to shops when I was away working, he hadn't been driving long, she got in the front passenger seat, he GOT IN THE BACK . Sat there for ages wondering who was going to drive, p******* themselves laughing!!

Some really funny stories here

A couple of years ago my mum and dad invited me out for dinner on my birthday. They said they'd pick me up in a taxi at 8pm. I spotted the taxi arriving, quickly locked the house up, and jumped in the front of the cab saying 'hiya, off we go then' cheerfully. The taxi driver said 'hi, where to then?' and I said 'oh they're taking ME out tonight' and turned around, to see empty back seats and mum and dad pulling up in the taxi behind. Doh

I can well understand how that happened. My son once had an old yellow nissan. To do him a favour, I went to get it from where it was parked around the corner. I opened the door, got in but couldn't start the engine. It took me a while, then I realised that I was in the wrong car. His car was about three cars further down. (Good job the real owner didn't turn up. )

That reminds me of when I did the same thing last year. I reported my car stolen to the security guard at Tescos as I couldn't find it in the car park. As I was waiting for the police to turn up, I went for another look, only too find that I'd actually parked my car at the opposite end of the carpark from where I was looking

After ringing the police to tell them that they weren't needed and I'd found the car, I scuttled off and went home

This is the first time I've confessed any of this, so no doubt I'm gonna be in for a ribbing if my OH sees it

ok,about 18 years ago i came out of a pub, opened my escort, sat in, let my boyfriend in and was just about to start the car when i realised the stereo was different. My boyfriend and i realised instantly what we had done and just ran as quick as we could down the road to our car. I felt really bad because we didn't lock the doors behind us, so somebody would have come out and wondered why their doors where unlocked.

About a year ago came out of supermarket, walked over to the boot of my car, put key in and couldn't understand why it would'nt open. I was bent over trying frantically when i realised two people were stood directly behind me as i turned round with a face like thunder i realised it wasn't my car, my face must have said it all.... they laughed and pointed to the car next but one. Luckily they understood, i don't know how long they had been watching me, i was just so embarrassed, appologised and disapeared quickly.
