Hi I'm sure you will get a few replies. But I would say "ignore and walk away" Good Luck

I know what you are saying but you have to let him know who is boss, and that you are not prepared for that behaviour. He is testing you at the moment to see exactly what he can get away with.

how long have you owned him?
How much exercise does he get?
Is there specific times when he does it?
when he is more excited etc ??

Could you describe what you do when you tell him off? And what he does that you want to stop?

eta - it`s easier to substitute a different behaviour than to just `stop` a dog doing something. For instance - if he gets excited and leaps all over you, avoid getting him so excited. If he jumps up, turn away till he backs off then say good boy and reward, then add a sit. Eventually (and it`ll take a while!) he`ll learn that sitting or waiting gets attention, jumping doesn`t.
I would teach him sit, down, stay etc. - staffies are bright dogs and love to learn.

hiya
hes a recue dog we have had him 6 weeks
he has about 2-3 hours a day exercise at regular intervals
hes at his worst when hes been for a walk or when he has his toys in the house
and the more u tell him no the more giddy he gets

the thing is he has a great nature and when he is calm he is lovely but hes like 2 extremes

6 weeks is early days, especially for a rescue. How about following the No with sit, good boy? Then he ends on a feel-good note. He may be really confused ATM.

What are you feeding him?
