Lulu - 10 year old Yorkie on foster in Leeds

Lulu is a 10 year old Yorkie x and is currently on foster in Leeds.

The Lulu Fact File
Dog status: Good
Cat status: Cannot be rehomed with cats
Child status: Very good; can be rehomed with children over the age of 5.
House training: Good but needs regular visits outdoors
Home alone: happy to be left for a few hours but loves human company
Basic training: Good house manners and excellent recall off lead.

Lulu is an older girl who doesn’t like a lot of change and upheaval. She would like a settled lifestyle either with another dog or with lots of human company. Lulu has been through a number of house moves recently as she was rehomed twice before coming in to our care and moving to her current foster home.

Lulu is a loving and affectionate dog looking to find a sofa to settle on. She is good with children of all ages and has lived with children before. She can be rehomed with children over the age of 5 years.

Lulu does sometimes bark if something worries her, and at the moment needs her foster carer to go and reassure her before she will stop barking (unless she is in her crate, where she presumably feels more secure). lulu also sleeps in her crate overnight as it acts as her own little den. Through the day she needs regular access to the garden to relieve herself and she enjoys her walks and is still active. She is good off the lead and has very good recall back for cuddles and treats.

Lulu is dog friendly and can be rehomed with canine company or as the only dog. She can sometimes bark at large dogs who approach her out on walks if she feels intimidated but she soon settles and can make friends with them. She cannot be rehomed with cats or small animals.

Lulu has a grade 1/2 heart murmur which does not require any medication. She also has a slightly collapsing trachea which is a common issue for Yorkshire terriers. It means she needs to be walked on a harness and not on a collar.

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from the Hope Rescue forum.
