Abattoir in Scotland

I thought it was fairly common knowledge as everyone at my training school buy their meat from there but after doing a search on the forum doesn't look as if it has been noted here so thought I would let others know about it.

There is an abattoir in Cumbernauld which sells various meats to dog owners- they make sure it is not for human consumption the first time you go. The prices are very reasonable and over the last year not one person I know has had a complaint about them. (except for me because one of the guys persist on asking for my number ) Pallicerig used to feed their wolves from there.

I'm sure I paid £3 for my mince but I found these details from my training instructor so would imagine it to be accurate. Apologies it has been some time since I have been able to go down so these prices are a rough guide.

Minced beef is £3.50 for 5KG and £10 for 15KG ( you need to split and bag this yourself before freezing)
Chunked heart/tripe/tongue/kidney etc is £3 for 5KGs
There is no charge for marrow bones.

Should note however as it is an abattoir you need to have a pretty strong stomach, which I assume most do feeding raw, as often they are cutting up the animals as you go to collect your meat.

I hope this isn't the dog school who use prong collars!

Interesting. I will tell a couple of friends who might be interested in this. Thanks for sharing.

ETA: That said, the folk I know who may use this prefer to feed their dogs food fit for human consumption, rather than not, but I'll tell them anyway.

It is but I hardly think it s relevant. As you are already aware of my beliefs on prong collars (against) and it has no relevance to what they feed their dogs

Just out of interest, how did you go about contacting an abattoir? Do you just ring up and say "I want some meat!", or is it more complicated than that?

No, but I can't understand why you'd attend a club who advocates a strong use of them when you are against them yourself. Sorry, doesn't make sense to me!

Do you mind if I move this discussion to another thread because I really don't think it is relevant to the abattoir. But more than willing to discuss it
