Not until physically mature ideally which is around 2 to 3 years of age depending on breed. This is because it affects the hormones responsible for growth and therefore can affect the growth of the dog.

Thanks for the replies Max is a Lab x Whippet so we have been told.

Thanks for the advice we will await till he is around 2-3 year old before considering having him done.

I did a lot of research on this before deciding to get Bentley done. I wanted him to be fully mature to allow things like breast plates to develop fully to hold lungs and heart, and most of my research said this was around 12 months old for a JRT. I am sure it wil be older for Labs (I think that's what you have?) as they are bigger.
On a personal level I agonised over this decision as a lot of people I knew last summer were insisting it should have been done at just 6 months, when he was still a puppy. He didn't stop growing until September, when he was 11 months. I then left it a further month to be sure. I am so glad I didn't give in to peer pressure and get him done when he was a pup, even though a few months of teenage dog were hell!
You should get a lot of advice from Dogsey and can then make your own decision from there

No younger than 12 months for me, but preferably around the 18-24 months mark.
