So very sorry for your very sad loss. It must have been such a shock, but take heart in knowing he will never feel pain or that you never had to make that dreadful decision.

The pain will ease, although I dont know if it ever completely goes away, but I think, I will go through all the pain and hurt to have had them in my life, than never to have had the pain and never to have known them.

So sorry to read this, it must have been such a shock, but he went knowing he was loved. I have just read the 17 Dog Quotes featured and one is along the lines of "the only thing wrong with dogs is they don't live long enough". Right now you will be feeling that so keanly. There will always be an Ivan shaped place in your heart and he lives on in all the happy memories. As already said the pain will ease, allow yourself to grieve and cherish all the happiness he brought you.
