Does your dog smile ?

my breed are renowned for this - here's my girl Bijou demonstrating the 'Belgian grin'

she looks kind of fierce but she really IS smiling for the camera !!

My Uncle used to have a Dobermann which did this. As you can guess, it was very frightening if you didnt realise she was smiling! My collie bitch smiles, but doesnt show her teeth.

Our old lab x GSD used to sometimes grin in appeasement, she only did it with visitors.

Yiannis will "smile" on command. He throws his head back, half closes his eyes and opens his mouth as if laughing at a really poor joke.

It would seem that many of my dogs can/will smile. Maybe it's a GSD thing, considering may of them are GSDs. Although maybe it's just the way their features happen to be when the have their mouths open and I've been lucky enough to have a camera handy.

That's one heck of a grin!!!
Merlin also does but it's much more toned down, and usually when he's relaxed and having his tummy rubbed.
I also love the little row of teefs when they are really chilled out and content.

One of our Scottish Terriers used to give a big smile and show all her teeth. Never could get a good picture of it. Susie, my Bernese cross, smiles at people.

Our labrador Sam smiled all the time. Until we tried to capture him smiling on camera. In the 12 years he was with us we never caught that smile on camera !
