Vet Appreciation Thread xxxx

The vet helped save my girls life, I am convinced her special care along with Kaliska's determination and the fab positive Dogsey Vibes (Thanks all xxxxx), all saved my girls life. The vet was fab and even went in on her two days off at the weekend, even though there was another vet there, to see my girl xxxxxxxxxxxx

So, if anyone has a good write up about their vet, then please go ahead xxxxx

I can't give any dramatic examples of my vet, but whenever any of my puppies has a problem, he fits us in and nearly always his first remedy works. He seems to love dogs and often seems to have time to talk about general dog things. I have learned a lot that way. I think his prices are lower than I hear elsewhere. He does shave them a little for the puppies we raise for service dog schools. Last year he gave me some obsolete Interceptor puppy packs for Tux.

Unlike my own doctors, he never seems to do wallet surgery.

Our vet was excellent when Callan broke his leg. It was the first time we have ever needed a vet for anything drastic, so have only ever used the vets for routine things and dropping off posters for the dog club.

When we phoned him on a Sunday afternoon saying our pup was limping he met us at the surgery within 15 minutes. We really didn't think it was anything drastic but he still came straight out. He told us what was wrong and gave him painkillers and bandaged him up, then fitted him in for xrays first thing the next morning. Whilst our own vet appeared to us very knowledable about the type of break Callan had and his breed we took his advice when he said that he would refer him to a specialist.

We also found the nurses excellent on the bandage changes and they were really happy to accomodate us with a colour coordinated bandage in our dog club colours when we were going to a team agility show

We obviously had to pay the specialist immediately for the operation and treatment at their practice, but our own vet has not ever mentioned payment to us yet, even though Callan is now no longer needing vet treatment and obviously trusting us to call in and sort payment which of course we will this week.

I really cannot fault them and will say they have been 100% during such a horrible few weeks.

Aw what a lovely thread werewolf, so pleased to hear about your girl xx

My vet is fantastic.

She referred us to the specialist Oncologist for Zeke when he was given only 4-6 weeks to live and the service there has been second to none, 24 hour top speedy expertise.

She could have treated him at their small surgery and made ££££ thousands! off us, but instead she did what was best for Zeke, and he is living his life to the full now with the best treatment, thanks to her xxxxxxx

My vet, Dean, is a total superstar - don't know what I'd do without him, and I trust him totally.

My vets in Lincolnshire were brilliant, I had been with them for years, they knew my dogs well but knew me better, if I phoned with a problem they knew to take me seriously....they saved my darling Alfie's life when he had bloat.

Sadly I wasn't in Northampton long enough to build up the rapport at that vets and now, being in Buckinghamshire, I'm not 100% happy with the vets Leon is registered with, although the vet he saw recently seems to be more clued up. My previous vets would fit you in if it was an emergency or just because they knew I wouldn't phone last thing over nothing, this current practice has no flexibility if they are fully booked

I shall stick with them for the time being but, when the time comes for me to need a vets for my next dog I will shop around in the hope I can find another like I had in Lincolnshire.

My vet is fabulous! When I was admitted to the hospital on emergency while my cat was sick, she personally transported him back and forth from her clinic to the ER for overnight care and back again until I could care for him again. She goes above and beyond for ALL my pets. She always wants whats best for them, even if it means referring my pets for care elsewhere. I don't know what I would do without her!

I think my vet is great too.

He's never trying to make extra money selling this or that and always considers the dogs - e.g. he never makes them get up on the table, but will get on his hands and knees on the floor with them. Both girls are completely relaxed about going into the vets despite the numerous things they've both had done there....that says a lot to me.
