Kiwi - 18 month old female Staffie X

Kiwi, Staffie X, DOB 04.10 - Gatwick, Surrey

Homing Requirements:Kiwi needs a dog experienced family who can offer her support and training as a young affectionate medium sized dog, who is lively on the end of her lead. She needs secure 6' panel fencing and exit management as she has been allowed/encouraged to chase cats, so needs desensitizing to this 'game'. Only pet status.

Her Story: Kiwi was owned by a man who was casual with Kiwi having her off lead. She got into chasing cats for fun and neighbours complained of his not having control over her. She came into police care and gave birth to a litter but all pups died. The owner had since become homeless and couldn’t take her back. Friendly and a truly caring natured dog. Now spayed. Vaccinating and microchipping.

Advert: Kiwi is fun and caring. She loves to snuggle and will make a very loyal pet. She 18 months young and still has a lot of puppy in her and is ready for fun. Kiwi needs to be trained to an extender lead as she was allowed off by her owner to chase cats, and must now be kept under control. She would suit a family used to a larger dog and who will take their dog to a training class to offer her the basics and refresh themselves.

Kiwi is a wonderful slate grey colour with badger markings and pretty white socks. Kiwi is young and intelligent. She hasn't lived with children but she is gentle. Our only concern is she should always have a responsible adult on the end of her lead should she try to break into chase. Kiwi has always been loved and loads of people have come forwards to help her ... now she just needs that fortunate family to embrace her needs and enjoy a superb dog.

A couple more pics of Kiwi on Saturday out on her group walk. She had managed to make the side of her mouth bleed in the kennel, but it didn't stop her enjoying her walk. Our walking volunteers will keep an eye on her.

An update from Lynne on Kiwi:

"Fruity Kiwi came out today for a stroll and to share my cheese sandwich. Kiwi doesn't actually stroll; not when spending so much time in her kennel. She is a lively walk and makes full use of the extender to explore and enjoy her time.

Video: Kiwi Walks and Rolls

Video: Kiwi Enjoying her walk

She is a sweet dog and searches, incredibily interested in everything. I couldn't imagine Kiwi off lead and if she was she'd chase wild life definitely. Once stationary Kiwi is very connected, especially if you have a cheese sandwich to share".

Kiwi pics ... probably the quizzical look is why oh why she hasn't been homed yet! We don't understand it either!

Still patiently waiting for a home in boarding kennels.
