Bladder problem

I have a 12 year old male Portuguese Water Dog who has a degenerative disk condition. He has gotten progressively worse over the last year but really took a turn for the worse a week ago when he suddenly became totally paralyzed in both hind legs. He also lost the ability to urinate at this time so we started expressing his bladder. However a few days later he started not being able to hold his urine at all with a continuous dribble. So during this time we have been using towels, plastic and blankets. We tried diaoers and belly bands but the diaper didn't cover the penis correctly and the belly band (with pad) leaks very badly. Now he is constantly wet with urine (we can't dry it out) and developing redness in his groin area.

Has anyone else had experience with this sort of issue? Are we doing something wrong with the belly bands? Any other ideas?

You don't say what you're doing with the belly band so how canwesay it's right or wrong, you just said you tried it and it leaks. Is the pad completely soaked or is it leaking out without being absorbed by the pad? They do sometimes wet the band as well as the pad so it helps to have several and change the pad regularly. Maybe use bigger pads and keep the band very snug.
Has he been to the vet and been checked for a uti or just urinary incontinence due to his age it's generally treatable.

The band is completed soaked and the urine also leaks out over everything. As I said he has a degenerative disc disease and hes paralyzed from the waist down.it just seems like we can't get the bands or diapers to fit right because he can't stand up without a help me up harness

Is the pad itself soaked if so change it more frequently and use bigger ones. Being paralyzed shouldn't make him pee more so either change him as soon as he's pee'd or take him out more often with the aid of the harness. Has the vet said there are no drugs available to help?
If there's nothing available to help perhaps you should consider putting him to sleep, life can't be much fun for him can it.
