Dog in heat... did I have a boy visit?

My 8 month old Toller is in the 9th day of her heat cycle. No dog has expressed any interest in her at all. I am told by other people with intact girls that there are no loose dogs in the town.

Tonight, when I took her out, she sniffed vigorously at a spot on the front porch, and I had to drag her away from there. My 16 year old spayed dog also found that spot fascinating. Neither gave it any attention before.

My wife is guessing that an intact boy came calling and marked that spot. Does that make sense?

It is my first heat and is quite an experience.

Yes very possible, some entire male dogs are like cunning "tom cats" and visit when all is quiet and lights out.

She is just getting to the point in her heat where she will stand and get bred if there are any males around. Keep her safe for at least another couple of weeks.

We are at day 21 now. The swelling has been down for about 4 days, so we are calling it good.

Except for the one thing on the porch, absolutely nothing happened the whole time, despite daily 3 mile walks. (well, if you ignore her ripping our other dog's bed apart while humping it.)
