Many years ago we used Dover port on our regular trips to mainland Europe. Since the channel tunnel opened we switched because I was never happy with the way cars were loaded on the ferries.

I spent Christmas in dover harbour. My uncle used to work for P&O and if you were on ship at Christmas you could have your family come aboard...got all food and drink for free!!!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

Getting photos of the castle itself I just could not get back far enough at a good area to get an overall picture. Inside again very cramped photographically wise and load of school parties in the way as well. Even if I had taken my extra wide angle lens I would have had a job
