10 mth old Puppy has become a fussy eater.

Nanuq used to be very food orientated up to about a month ago when he stopped eating all of his meals. he is a 10 mth old Mal X Sibe.

some days he will only eat a bit of both his meals, other days he eats all of his food. we have tried different food and even mixing in wet food etc. I do not want to add gravy to his food as this has to much salt in it.

he is not losing weight but is not putting on as much as he was.

Is this normal or should I be worried?

Any sugestions welcome.

Thanks all

It sounds like his growth has leveled out and his food requirements are lower now. As long as you can't see his ribs, he should be fine.

Check the ends of the leg bones. If they are still much knobbier than an adult's, the growth plates are still open and it is still growing. If not, do not expect much more growth. He may be near his adult size, but his joints are still developing. Overweight will put too much stress on them.

The worst thing you can do is to bribe a dog with rich foods into eating more than it needs. Instead, Put down the dish with what the dog should eat, and give it 15 minutes to eat. Then take it up. Do not give it anything to eat until its next scheduled meal.

If you put just a very small amout of gravy on his food, he will eat if he is hungry enough. A very small amount of gravy will not be harmful. If he doesn't eat, even with the gravy, he does not need the food. Unless you notice that his weight is declining, the varying amount of food he eats from day to day should not be a cause for concern.
