Good for you raising the pups! I was lucky when my girl's pups were born, no clefts at all. But Siberian huskies are known to have cleft palates, so I was prepared. But thank goodness all were so perfect!

I was wondering if you or anyone else on here had any real pictures of a puppie's cleft palate? I've always wondered what a real disorder looked like, the only thing I've seen is the drawing in the Book of the Bitch. That doesn't seem to show much detail. Is there anywhere here on the Internet where I could find real pictures taken of a young pup's mouth? Thanks!

Hi There Everyone.
Siberlover, i have been getting my support from this site,

http://hennwood.tripod.com/cleft_pup_info.htm

if you run down the page there is a picture of a cleft pup, my two both have the same, i did put my thinking cap on and debate trying to get a picture, but they are so small and dont like having there mouths open. so decided it wasnt worth the upset.
They are still alive and kicking, but its getting harder as they get older. I spend all my time worrying about them, when i should be packing as we are moving in about three weeks. I will update you all later.
Thanks for your support eveyone, i do apreciate it, its not easy being a mum to such sad little pups.

Oh i forgot to mention, My vet wants to operate between 7-8 weeks. He is going to charge me 100 pounds per pup plus aftercare. (if he thinks im leaving them he can think again)
Im not even sure i will allow the operation to go ahead.
if anyone wants to look at this site and give me there feedback about having the op i would be greatfull.

Thanx whizgirl
its the attachment you form with the little guys that causes the heartache. i cannot put into words how i feel for them. every now and again i think should i just have them put to sleep. then when their tummys are full and they are wagging their tails and Barking and growling at MEE i feel bad for having such thoughts. i think god is on there side, cos i couldnt do it alone.

Hi Clue1e55,

My puppies would have been 10 weeks old today, i wont go into what happened as i dont want to cause you any worry. I do however know a Boxer dog called Byson who is now 5 years old he has a cleft & hare lip, he never had surgery to correct the cleft & hare lip, hes doing just fine
