Sounds like you are doing all the right things regarding the unwanted behaviour. I'm sure your lad will soon cotton on.

Bless you for rescuing x0x

Good on you Dan for rescuing

If you have not had your boy for long, could it be an anxiety thing or a settling thing that will pass?
I had a Lurcher bitch once from rescue, who humped everything and everybody until she had settled down. We coped in the same way, by walking away, turning our backs and ignoring any behaviour we didn't want.
Good luck and let us know how you get on

BUT I have noticed that he keeps getting erect for no apparant reason....then he sits up and seems unhappy with it. he tries to get it to go down, and waits, doing nothing, then when it does off he goes and he's ok.....

It is almost an involuntary excitement.

Am I completely mad and don't know what i'm talking about, is it normal, is it weird.......

I am going to have him neutered, but the vet seems to think it won't cam him totally due to his age and some of it being behavioural?

Also have to wait as I want his weight down before I get him done.

Help? Thanks
It won't work might of worked if he was younger!!!!

Neutering only works on dogs with developing brains!!

Just train him.

Sniffing a crutch is nothing even the bitch's we had did that.

Thats what I thought before we had Pippin done, he was over 3 and it made a huge difference. But the Lhasa was amazing, one week he was bonking everything that moved and the next he was a contented little dog trotting round the garden. Etta couldn't quite sort it out either, she quite liked the attempts at bomking as she thought he was playing.

As with humans, not all dogs react the same, so there's a chance it may and a chance it may not work.

Which is why good vets will suggest Suprelorin before castration, if the implant works then castration will & if the implant doesn't then the dog doesn't need to go through an elective surgery
