Woman Sics her 2 Pit Bulls on another woman, who nearly died.

This is why people are so afraid of Pit Bulls! People like this woman who train them to be vicious! The victim was so close to death! I do, however have a hard time believing that the dogs are Pit Bulls. 80-90 lbs is awfully big for a Pitty.

CALGARY - Mounties are looking for a woman who they say sicced her two pitbulls on a Calgarian who nearly died in the attack last weekend.

Rita Phillip, 57, of Sundre, a town northwest of the city, is facing a charge of aggravated assault after a 26-year-old Calgary woman was savagely attacked by the pair of dogs early Saturday in a mobile home park.

Phillip encouraged the attack on the woman who suffered extreme injuries to her arms, face and has lost an ear, said RCMP Insp. Frank Smart.

"She was responsible for the attack on the victim," he said. "Our evidence has indicated this individual was in the residence with the victim and her actions led to the dogs attacking the victim."

He couldn't say what kind of a dispute might had led to the incident.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim in a bedroom, with wounds so severe officers thought she was dead.




"One of our RCMP officers had to drive the ambulance so the EMS members could work on the victim," said Smart.

The two highly aggressive, lunging dogs that each weighed 80-90 lbs., were found inside another bedroom of Phillip's home, he said, where one of them was successfully sedated.

The other escaped and was shot dead while charging officers in the mobile home, said Smart.

Now listed in critical but stable condition at Foothills hospital, the injured woman -- who was a friend of the accused -- has supplied RCMP information about the incident, he said.

"She was able to provide details last weekend, which is a good sign," said Smart.

The surviving light brown male pitbull is being held at the City of Calgary's animal shelter while its fate is determined.

As RCMP neared the scene early Saturday morning, Phillip took off, said Smart.

"We believe she fled the residence on foot, what she did after that we're not certain," he said.

Neighbours have told QMI Agency they feared the dogs, who they say have been involved in other violent incidents, including a bloody assault on a Rottweiler-husky cross last year.

Smart said they're aware of allegations the same pitbulls had recently bit Saturday's victim previous to the latest attack.

He said ordering a dog attack is extremely rare and disturbing.

"People need to be responsible for their pets and it's our civic duty to have everyone else use that thought process," said Smart.

RCMP killed one pitbull and seized another after a woman was attacked at a home in Sundre, Alta., early Saturday, sending her to hospital with "severe injuries."

"They found one female victim in the residence, she was in critical condition, badly bitten, mostly to her arms and face," said Cpl. Ryan Hodge.

"It was pretty traumatic.

"(RCMP) attempted to gain control of the dogs to have them removed, the one dog got loose and was aggressive toward members and had to be shot on scene."

The 26-year-old woman was staying with friends at a home in Sundre -- about 130 km northwest of Calgary -- when she was attacked about 2 a.m. Saturday.

"She was airlifted by STARS to Foothills (hospital)," said Hodge, estimating the light-brown male pitbulls to be "pretty large" between 80 and 90 lbs.

"They're very aggressive."

One dog was seized by Sundre bylaw officers and is currently being quarantined.

Both were registered with the town of Sundre and are up to date on rabies shots, said Hodge.

"Right now it's going to be held for observation," he said.

"Then most likely a hearing will have to be held to determine the fate of the dog.

"Right now we're still trying to piece together our investigation, there's still people we need to talk to."

The dogs may have bitten the same woman within the last two weeks.

"That's part of our investigation," he said.

"One incident recently wasn't reported to police."

Hodge said police don't know what triggered the attack.

How awful that poor woman.

You wouldn't want the owner of those dogs as a friend would you ? As usual dogs used as weapons its so tragic for all except the woman who owned the dogs and used the dogs to attack. No symapthy for her I am afraid.

How awful You can certainly see why breeds and types of dogs get such bad press when owned by such people.
