Stretch marks

A girl I know has just had a baby and was complaining about stretch marks on her tummy - I don't think she got that big. It is inevitable to get them on your tummy?

I think so Lucky - I don't think these creams they sell help either. I've got stretch marks but then my first baby was big he was 9lb 4 oz (this was nearly 15 years ago so that was considered big then although I know babies seem a lot bigger today)

My daughter's had two kids and not one single stretch mark. She was a size 10 before the kids and now she's a 12 Some people have all the luck - I'm still trying to shed the 3 stone I put on when I gave birth to HER 34 years ago

Ahh good old stretch marks, well as a guy i got a few from weight lifting. Can you get rid of them? no, well not without surgery. Vitamin E cream is recomended as it helps. You should be able to find some from Boots or Mothercare. Burning fat eg cardio exercises will also help i think.

I think to avoid stretch marks you have to keep your skin VERY moisturized all the time you're growing.... Try almond oil or cocoa butter....

Prevention is the key cos once they're there that's it!

But hey it's no big deal... most women have them... I'm only 21 and I have some on my thighs...

I never had any...I think one of the secrets is breast feeding, it causes your tummy muscles to contact pulling your tummy in so instead of folds of skin slowly returning to shape you get your figure back more quickly.

Me too, amts. I have been told that it is more likely in the last couple of weeks and that some celebrities opt for early caesarians to avoid them.
