Is there a main Office that you can visit to view Birth, marriage, deaths certificates - I think I remember there was a place called Somerset House years ago that you could do this, I know that isn't the place now, any ideas anyone?

Or there's this

General register office

and this

Family records office

You should be able to get addresses from both sites.

It'll be your local registry office Sweep, or the local office of where your family member lived.

As Inca said, those microthingies do your eyes in after a while

If you know what you want (which certificate), you can go to the local councils webpage, and send off for it, or write to them, and they will send you it.
My mum is reseaqrching our family tree, and she has got lots of birth/death certificates sent to her

Found out why I was confused, looking for Plumstead Offices and they come under Greenwich, so that will be the place to start, we have only just got a copy of my Mum's Birth Cert, never knew where she was born, she always just said London
