New dog owner

Hi there,
I have recently adopted a staffie X from a rescue centre in Taunton. She is approx 7 - 8 months old and is a real sweetie. I would like to know if anyone can recommend good walks for her in our area. I live in a village near Bridgwater, Somerset. I have taken her to Brean beach which she loved, but more suggestions would be great. Also, good days out with teenagers and dogs. Also, dog friendly pubs or eating out places so that we can stop for refreshments!!! Thanks

Hi welcome, I don't live in your area but have holidayed there. It was very dog friendly as far as I remember. On Weston-super-mere's front we were able to sit outside many bars/hotels with our drinks and food with the dogs. They are als oallowed on the two end sections of the beach, just not the middle bit where the kids play.

Hi there,

Have just returned from spending Easter with my mother in Street - with dog of course! Not too far away from you....

I bought an Ordnance Survey map of the area which shows all the public footpaths, and I can walk across fields there for hours. We have some great walks whenever we visit, so I'm sure if you invest in a similar map (your area would be Explorer 140 or 128 ) you'll find all kinds of lanes, rights of way & footpaths you never knew existed.

Here's mine having a very muddy fun time on Easter Sunday:
