When I say Pharaoh has done this countless times.. I mean almost actually I have lost count! (He has tissue paper skin and a love of squirrels, trees hate him)... Pharaoh is an incredibly stoic dog, he is completely calm and shows no pain. My vet will cut this sort of skin flap from him and has even given him 7 staples under only local anaesthetic... He is, however the exception, not the rule and even with pharaoh he still has to go under if it is in an awkward place, like the crook of the knee or underneath.

Best wishes.. I'm sure it will all be fine.

Pharaoh is obviously a proper Lurcher, tough and brave, Mo on the other hand is a woos who cries at the slightest thing.
Having said that she didn't make a sound when she had the antibiotic injection tonight

You've got all the positive vibes I can muster Jen. I'm sure she'll be ok, you've had a good talk with your vet and he just wouldn't risk it if there was any danger! They can give them a very low dose of aneasthetic and get the job done quickly, please don't worry too much xxxxxx

Hi Jenny,

Sorry to hear Mo has cut her leg and that it's needing surgical intervention.

I know of dogs who have had s flap of skin removed from their legs, because they've cut it, under a local anaesthetic rather than a general, like others have said. Obviously I'm not a vet but couldn't you see if they could possibly do it under a local, especially considering Mo's heart condition?

Anyway, hope all goes really well for Mo tomorrow. All the best.
