Nope not profound but I think sometimes we underestimate the stupidness of some people

We on here pretty much agree that he shouldn't be anywhere near any animal however you only have to look at the people following / copying him to realise how much he is liked/admired

The few good points he comes out with: Calm energy, exercise - Ok I'll change the 'few' to 'two' is a valid point and he does re-iterate it and look quite shocked that his customers can't understand why their dog is unruly or destructive, in many cases both when they don't ever leave the house. It's a shame that this message doesn't get out more, I think it gets lost in the Tssssking and jabbing.

With his following he could do so much good IF he got rid of all the other cr*p and focused on the dogs more than his image

I think that he provides a very positive role model that with hard work and a little luck you can succeed in a foreign land, even if you lack ability and compassion.

The only positive thing about CM is that he has become an example of almost the polar opposite of a *good* dog trainer.

If you know someone who trains like CM you know to steer well clear of them!

i have 3 things that i like

Calm and confident

Exercise

No touch no talk no eye contact - we use this on visitors untill phoebe decides weather to say hello or not. me and phoebe hate it when people try and force them selves on her - totally freaks her out

But i had fiqured it out myself before i watched any cm

oh and big daddy - the only reason i watched was because i had a slight obsession with that dog

I like him and I think he's probably saved many dogs and given people hope that a dogs problems can be fixed instead of the dog being put down.

I understand how passionately people feel about his methods being cruel and I'm not convinced on all of them but on balance I think he shows the general public that there is hope of rehabilitation for problem, out of control dogs which may save the dogs life.

The real problem in my opinion is that lots of people get a dog and put almost no effort into early socialisation or into training and don't even have a basic knowledge of dog training.

Once the puppy novelty has worn off the dog gets almost no attention and then the owner wonders why they have a problem dog! "Doh"

I'd rather Cesar Milan look after my dog than any of these people thats for sure.

No. He`s been responsible for many dogs being put down. He has taught people to bully and force an animal. Some animals react in fear and bewilderment.

I am on the verge of giving up here tbh.
I am so sad to see this forum being taken over by the beat `em, kick `em, shock `m brigade.
I`m so sad reading all these posts from deluded people who have to feel superior to a small mammal.
I`m getting to feel despair when come to the boards these days.
Time to move away from the keyboard.
x

bye.

Cesar Milan has no clue how to actually train a dog. He wasn't even able to teach his own puppy how to sit! Even if you agree with his methods for real problem dogs surely you don't advocate using those same methods to teach a puppy to sit or lie down or stay? I'd rather have my overly kind and rather clueless brother look after my dog than someone who'd hit, kick, shock and terrify him.

I do agree with what you're saying about people getting a dog and not putting the work in though. Novelty of a puppy wears off, dog hits adolescence and becomes a bit of a pain, dog often gets rehomed.
