Morgan - 4 year old black greyhound lad
Morgan is a super black lad with four white toes and a little white bib and although his coat is a little dull at the moment it will soon be beautiful and shiny with some TLC and a lovely new collar to show it off. He is approx 28" to the shoulder and 4 years of age. Morgan has come from a sad pound situation and is now looking for a loving forever home.
Location: Kennels in Norfolk. Morgan would love a foster home while he waits for his forever family.
Key points: VERY CALM, good on lead, becoming more cuddly, confident around people, happy around other greyhounds.
~ Personality ~
Generally: Laid back, cuddly once he gets to know you, non-confrontational.
Morgan is very calm and laid back, not a lot fazes him although he doesn’t like non greyhound shaped dogs walking past his kennel but we are working on this and are sure that once he gets into a home environment and is socialised with other dogs he will be fine with them all. Since being with us he is gaining in confidence daily and now enjoys his cuddles and treats from the kennel staff.
~ In the Home ~
Generally: Morgan hasn't had the luxury of living in a home yet but does try to keep his kennel clean.
Unfortunately Morgan has never been in a home environment before but tries to keep his kennel nice and clean bless him. He has been a little shy with the kennel staff but is such a lovely calm lad and is now showing more emotion with a waggy tail in the morning and whenever they pay him a visit.
~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Non-confrontational with other greyhounds, can bark at non greyhound shaped dogs.
Mr Morgan is very good with the other greyhounds at the kennels and is non-confrontational with them, but he does get a little stressed around non-greyhounds simply because he doesn't understand what they are due to lack of socialisation in his life and only ever living with other greyhounds. We have a fantastic behaviourist on our team that will support Morgan and his new family with this lack of confidence and provide on-going training techniques and advice. Given lots of positive socialisation, Morgan will come to realise that although these other dogs are different in shape and size, they are still dogs. Please don't pass him by because of this as he truly is a very nice boy waiting for his chance!
~ Out and About ~
Generally: Does not pull on the lead, stands quietly and waits to walk on.
Morgan is very good and calm on the lead but will need on-going training around non-greyhound dogs and to initially wear a muzzle.
~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are very calm, mannerly dogs that are used to being handled. They can fit into a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family environment, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the retired.
~ Where Can I Live? ~
We feel Morgan would like to live with a family who have owned a greyhound before or had some greyhound experience and who will gently and calmly teach him how to be a happy family member. Morgan will happily live with another greyhound or two. Please note we do not home dogs to households with children under the age of 8.
~ Where Am I? ~
Mr Morgan is currently in kennels in Norfolk so you will have to travel to meet him and also collect him from Norfolk when the time comes for him to join your family. This lad would benefit so very much from a chance to live in a foster home, we are always eager for new foster volunteers. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.
~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Morgan will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flead and wormed. A home check will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
We would love to find this boy a foster home while he waits to be adopted. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Morgan, you can contact me (Bronwen) via email:
bronwen@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or you can speak to me directly by phoning: 075 000 62648.
There are application forms for both adopting and fostering a Kerry Greyhound, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page or Fostering Page of our website.
Thank you
