No he certainly does not !! If he did, then I would not be a fan of his. As Borderdawn says, he touches the dog, he certainly does not kick.

Yes he does from what I've seen. :smt002
He hits the dog with his foot, therefore it is a kick. Only he and the dog can know how hard he 'hits' them with his foot...but there is no doubt at all he 'hits' them with his foot.
Every dog will also have a diffent pain threshold and a different reaction to being 'kicked'.
In my experience, where he does 'hit' them with his foot, is a particularly sensitive area to touch. Tickling a dog there always gets a pretty rapid and obvious response....

I have done this to my own dog on a couple occasions, when he is fixated on something. If you touch a dog, (I did it on his back leg with my hand) they look round at it, not necessarilly at you, in my case, this is enough to distract the dog from what its doing and redirect it elsewhere.

Just as it's impossible for you to tell it's a kick, however since I have read his books and know he definately does not advocate kicking any dog, I choose to believe him.

Touch....to move especially the hand or another part of the body lightly onto and off something or someone:

http://dictionary.cambridge.org/defi...3975&dict=CALD

Never let it be said I don't see the 2 sides.
I do not think his foot is 'light' (yes I've watched him), infact to do what he does, as quickly as he does it, it would be almost impossible to use a 'light' touch as he cannot be totally sure of the position of the dog as he does it quickly.
Nope definitely a kick...but perhaps a light one huh?????

It is possible to tell it is much more than a touch though.
