Go call them right now!!!! Sell yourself and give it a try....at least it'll be a starter for auditioning and you may be what they're looking for, If not who cares?!!?! It'll be your first step. Good Luck.
Yeah singing lessons are sooo expensive but definately worth saving for even if you only have a few. Plus most will give you practise tapes so you can do more at home.x

my ex bf's mum used to do singing lessons but they were classical i think

To be honest she could probably help you with breathing and stuff still. OH has been doing demo's and B sides for a friends band called Cord. They are signed and been recording their album but the singer has been having lessons all the same and thats for a radiohead/coldplay style band.

Oh really, well i think ill def look into lessons and if the paper with the ad is still around ill give them a buzz, nothing to loose i guess
