Hi there, just to give a little more background and help Steph explain a little better as to what is going on here....hope you dont mind Steph.
I am the dog walker/pet sitter that is mentioned earlier in this thread.
The first that this snapping behaviour started, to the best on my knowledge, was last monday. I took her to the vet for Steph for her puppy check and initial jab. The poor wee thing was a little stressed on the journey and did snap at the receptionist and also the vet but I did explain to them that she was a little stressed. The days that followed, Ziva was a little snappy with me, maybe association with her stress the previous day????
On saturday morning Steph had Ziva back at the vets as she had been scratching at her ears and had inflamed them. Vet could find no infection or foreign matter in her ears and she was given drops. This I thought would have explained her snappyness with me as I do tend to pet dogs by massaging their heads and necks, therefore if her ears were painful, no wonder she snapped at me.
I advised Steph, when she got Ziva, to call around and find a good dog trainer, as this is her first large breed dog and she wasnt too confident because of her being a rottie.
Now dont get me wrong by my last comment, my experience of rotties and shepherds has not been good, not because the dogs are bad but because the owners were not addressing or did not see any of the issues that the dogs had because of their mismanagment of them. They also think the dog walker will sort it, not my job as I am not a dog trainer. Anyway, I digress.
She has had two one to one sessions with a trainer, one of which I attended also. Ziva was very good both on the journey and at the class. We are just trying to get her to begin recall by making it a fun thing for her to do and she will begin her puppy classes at the end of the month.
Could agression or pain related aggression stem from her injections? Could the injections cause painful joints? She is a very bold little puppy and I am not convinced that this is fear related.
