Mine only get part raw, part dry, they get a raw bone on morning and dry on evening. Anyway pork ribs are their fave! I just put up a pic of bear eating one 5 mins ago lol.

Maddy and Bear have delicate tums and they do fine on chicken wings, legs, turkey legs and pork ribs.

I do agree about pigs being related to dogs,I think
it's rubbish,but that's what I was told,so don't shoot
the messenger.
Cally i know that pig skin has been used in this kind of surgery - all i meant was it's a useless analogy to compare that to a comment about pigs being related to dogs.
Noone is trying to shoot you down but sh*t me, i would be getting a new vet so fast it would make your head swim. If he comes out with that kind of boll0x about a minor thing, i wouldn't trust him with my animals. Simple as. Sorry.

So that's why Angus snorts like a pig when he gets excited - it all makes sense now!!

I have never ever ever heard that dogs and pigs are related - that really is a first and from a vet too??

You learn something new every day don't you.

Have just added pork ribs to the shopping list instead of chicken wings today As forgot what a treat they are for them -

Right, have found out that pork has a high
fat content especially ribs,sausages and
bacon, and dogs do not need a high fat
diet,as do we.

You're pretty determined to find something wrong with feeding pork, aren't you Cally?!

I wouldn't recommend feeding sausages or bacon to dogs. Ribs make for quite a boney meal, not alot of fat or meat on them. Dogs require fat for energy. Unless you are feeding copious amounts of pork with lots of fat on it, I doubt if the average healthy dog would come to any harm.

There's hardly any meat or fat on pork ribs, it's mostly bone and surely this tiny bit of meat and fat will be fine for the dog providing it is fit and healthy?

Yes they do need a certain amount of fat,but
this has to be converted into fatty acids, and an
adult needs 9-15% of fat,min req is 5%,puppies need
17% fat,min req 8%,lactating dog min req 8%,needs
17%.
The fat content of pork which includes ribs is
11.2 per 100gms saturated fat, but the total
fat (lipid) is 30.31 per 100 gms, which I think is
quite high.

Where did you find these figures?
Noone feeds soley on pork ribs. If they did they'd have one severly consitpated dog cos of all the bone. The whole diet is to be taken in to consideration, not a single part of it they get a few times a week if you're going to start wittering on about nutritional requirements in the canine diet.

Cally - do you feed raw?

If you don't then please stop coming up with all these figures without telling us where you got them from.

If you do, then I suggest you need to do a lot more research into how to raw feed a dog.

Either way, after your comment about dogs being related to pigs I don't think anyone is going to take some of things you say very seriously anyway.

BTW I know you say your vet told you that but the fact that you believed it beggars belief.
