Your educated guess would be based on assumption, mine is based on nto having a crystal ball and being able to predict something, we could not know the answer too.

The horse may or may not have slowed down if the jockey stopped whipping,

Hers a theory, the exhausted horse was running in front, the tank was empty regardless of the jockey using the whip, so the whip is not getting any more out of the tank.

Yet the horse still won

TBH If you shove any horse/pony into that sort of situation they will race---it is the way they function. The difference comes when you put a jockey on their backs and train them to race hard----and beat them to help them along.

Not all of them, some can be stubborn little blighters

The horses that are pulled up are so totally knackered that they don't run even when they are whipped. Any jockey will know that it is dangerous to try and jump a horse in that state, they are likely to get badly injured themselves!

OR, the jockey realises the horse is so far behind he does not see the point of carrying on, or, the jockey has felt the horse has become unsound.,

Could one of any reasons!

you see Lynn we can all make assumptions

You come on, what makes your version right and mine wrong.

You dont know any more than I do, what would have happend without the use of the whip.

You dont know if the horse would have stopped running if no whip was used,

Dont be so silly, you really dont have a clue do you. The instructions were that EVERY horse was to be doused in water and EVERY jockey to dismount the horse after the line. For the welfare of the horse, imagine that. The fact that they were doused in water has led those more ill informed to make wild assumptions about exhaustion. No Horse collapsed from either exhaustion from racing or heat exhaustion.
