Just dragging this thread back up after a search as I'm thinking about buying a kindle & wondered what they are really like. Never seen one in the flesh, but hub has & said he thinks I'd like it.
I do like to sit in the sun & read so is this "no glare" on screen for real?
I also wondered if I needed the 3G version or just wi-fi & concluded I don't think I need the 3G, even though I want to take it on holiday I can download what I want before I go right? & the extra could pay for a cover.
It's currently siting in "my basket" on Amazon whilst I dither
I only bought 3 new books recently, although 1 is on pre order so I could probably cancel & change it to kindle.
Can you get free books too?

Shall I shan't I?... it's a lot of money, but I'm going on holiday next week & I'd rather sit & read with a glass of wine than go out & get smashed

If you do lots of reading, then definitely get one! Mine isn't 3G and like you said you just make sure you download lots of books before you go away.
I bought a cover for under £20 and it had a clip on light.

Where did you get your cover from?

I got the cover from Amazon. If you put in kindle covers with light on the amazon search bar you will see several different sorts. MIne was £17.95. They do all colours. Mines a nice deep purple.

Another silly question -do any earphones fit in it?
I'll probably put my music on it instead of taking my i-pod, don't wanna be gadget girl who hasn't got a clue!!

Nice you won't regret it!

Get an official cover tho - I don't think I could get used to the others that covers the edges like that one.

Yes normal earphones should work - not sure how much room it has for songs tho (really it is a reading device). If you want music get a Sony Walkman - they are awesome

ooh nooo don't - I have an ipod of the jurassic variery Well I think it's classed as jurassic now since all the nano's, nino's etc...
Even the music on it is Jurassic, I haven't updated it for about 5 years!
I liked the pink cover on ebay because it matches my blackberry cover

Can't wait for it to arrive now - I wonder if they do Mills & Boon, then nobody would know what I was reading
I read a load once that somebody left in the apartment as I'd finished my books - I really got into them (some were borderline soft porn ) I'd thought about hiding them inside a normal book to hide my embarrassment

I love my walkman! So simple to use. I heard some horror stories about ipods, so went for the walkman and never regretted it. I got mine in 2009, and took it round Australia with me - it has coped very well with not particularly careful treatment!
