I've just changed Dex over to totally raw - am literally just about to put a big order in with the Mobile Pet Food Company.

Glad you are enjoying the switch over to Raw, it's certainly something that seems to excite most dogs!

part of their meaty bones don't they?!

Mackerel tonight.. Nice and easy!

I fed raw for a while, must admit the dogs looked fab on it, i couldn't quite get it right though, my two used to get constipated sometimes, hard stools. I found it difficult getting the balance right.

Apart from that i really need to get another freezer to store everything. I found it quite expensive because i was having to keep going out buying it instead of being able to buy it in bulk.

Also Bella developed colitis so i stopped and went back to kibble. I would like to try it again though when i have another freezer !

If you're following Nick Thompsons feeding guide then he classes them as meat.

http://www.gsdhelp.info/nut/rawfooddiet.html

Scroll down to below the pic of the pup which is where he states chicken wings are meat.

Chicken wings should be counted as meat, but meaty bones should be fed, in addition to meat, at least twice weekly for teeth cleaning and to supply calcium.

I wanted to put my 2 on to raw and did try it for a while but they didn't agree with it. Cherry didn't like it and I did persevere but it's not nice to see her not eating and Parker enjoyed it but he was producing bloody diorrhea like a fountain! Not nice! Perhaps they were too old to change or perhaps Kerries (or my dogs in particular) have sensitive tummies? I would certainly give it a go for any future dogs we have.

They are fed on home-cooked now and really enjoy that and the food looks interesting and varied which is more than you can say about kibble! My husband always says he wouldn't mind eating what the dogs are eating!

Glad you are getting on with feeding raw.

Tip: feed liver and bones in the same meal. It helps stop the liver causing the runs and bone causing hard poos, keeps the balance
