I can't add anything to any of the posts. Only to say my thoughts are with you and I know you will make the best choice for Georgie in the end. xxxx

I had to make the decision to put down both my childhood dogs. One was still happy, and mostly pain-free, but he had Cancer, and his bad days began out numbering his good. The day before we put him down, we came home to a mess of bloody diarrhea and vomit all over. We had been told it wasn't cancer as he wasn't vomiting... but that clinched it. We put him down the next day, even though he was feeling good. He wouldn't have gotten better, his body was giving out. He was fighting so hard to get well though, and fought the injection... it was heartbreaking, and something I'll never forget! I felt horrible doing it when he was feeling ok, and there was a major part of me telling myself that there might be a chance... but at somewhere between 14 and 16, there was only so long left for him.

Patches was alot easier. she was ready, and honestly, I left it too long. She was ready before Christmas, but I couldn't do it then. I waited until the end of January to let her go... that was selfish of me, she was not happy. But even in that, she worked hard to make me happy, and make my life easier. She never complained, and gamely carried on for me. I almost feel she made sure I had a companion waiting before she let me know I had to do it, as I came across Zoe the day after Patchie died. I shouldn't have done that to her.

So one I feel I let go to early, and the other I feel I left too late perhaps I'll get it right when these dogs are ready.

Hugs to you and Dave, I can't add anything to help your situation, it's the worst place to be in. I would take it day to day, he sounds happy enough pottering around but you know him better than anyone else.

Hugs from France.

I hope the vet can give you a clear picture of what Georgie's future might be. If he honestly hasn't got long, then better to let him go before any further decline. But if he can carry on as he is for a while yet, then you may have more precious time. I really hope so. xx
