What about these? I cut them up for my dogs and they love them but I am worried now! They are never alone with them.

I don't like raw hide, there's loads of chemicals in it and I've hear lots of horror stories about dogs choking or it swelling up in their stomach.

Have a look at the zooplus websites - there's hundreds of totally natural, air dried chews onthere and the prices are pretty reasonable.

I get dried tripe sticks, dried lamb necks, cows ears and bull pizzles. None of them have any additives and they are all natural food stuffs. My dogs love them!

My two get these as well. The bigger ones are sawn in half for them, to have a half each!

I must admit mine have been eating rawhide for years, with no problems. I don't give the coloured ones though, just my preference.

I even cut it out just recently to see if it affected my Westie's itching, it didn't make any difference and the itching is now gone and seemed to be just a wee mishap! Although she has since stopped getting a bit of banana in the morning....Hmmm.

Anyway, no problems this end with rawhide chews.

ETA: Mine are not left unsupervised with them.

Nooooo, I will never never give a dog a hide chew again.
My last dog,(Nippy RIP) all but choked to death on a rawhide chew. It got all slimey and got stuck in her throat, if I hadn't been there I am sure she would have died.

Rawhide Is Evil!!!!!!

My boy chocked on a rawhide chew once he was coughing and shaking his head ...luckily he coughed it back up!
I nearly had a heart attack thinking he was gona die!
There banned from my house now...even if a friend buysmy boy sum they go straight in the bin!
Not worth the risk....I think the devil makes them!

I agree, although he seems to be coping quite well with this:

It's far too big to get anything off except small tasters and it's hilarious watching him try to get it up on "his" sofa!
I'm currently googling rawhide alternatives.
