Lots of calcium in Dorset too

Have taken the plunge and had a water softener fitted. Cost an arm and half a leg but the result is wonderful - clean baths/washbasins and shower screens, bubbly baths, shampoo that lathers and only needing a tablespoon of powder to do a whole wash!

....and I don't have to use tons of cleaning chemicals.

hi dinahsmum ...glad you are enjoying your bubble baths .... you have such beautiful scenary in dorset we go there in the caravan most years

Here I use JIK Thick ... for everything.

It is basically thick bleach cleaner

We use vinegar too.

I remove my showerhead and soak it in a bucket of vinegar every once in a while. It works great!

Vinegar and Bicarbonate are godsends... I use vinegar to clean after Archie's accidents and, on Olive's recommendation, have started dusting his beard with bicarb to keep it fresh... it's great

Hi all, bought one of those Scalemasters a while ago. Not only does it stop any further limescale but also gets rid of the stuff thats already lining the pipes

It's just a little sprinkling combed through, as you probably know bicarb neutralises bad smells.
