Dani, I agree. It is a lot to put any dog through, especially an older dog.
My vet thinks she was born with HD. She started shown signs when she
was just a pup. But she's got a very overprotective mommy, so she's
doing okay.

I agree with the others, if she`s doing so well I wouldn`t put her thru surgery, specially at her age

One thing I`d give her along with the other supplements you`re using is a fish body oil.

Hi Leslie I can only say what I would do in your situation ..

I would take into account..
the age of the dog,
life expectancy of the breed,
the general state of the dogs health,
current levels of immobility/pain/distress caused,
the quality of the dogs life,
the seriousness of the operation/duration,
the expected results of the operation (both as a success or failure)

Based on with information you have given previously I would not have the operation, I would use medication and supplements already mentioned above .

Thank you for all of your responses.

I have pretty much made up my mind about the surgery and I don't think
I'm going to do it. I cannot bring myself to make my baby go through all
that. She's doing fine. We took a nice long walk yesterday and she did
great.

I took everyone's responses into consideration, and the general consensus
is that she should not have the surgery. I don't think one person was
pro-surgery.

Thanks again everyone. I'm so glad that I found Dogweb!

Tillytails:

Thanks for the hugs.

No, "GA" was never explained, so thanks for telling me what it meant.
I had no idea.

I have pretty much made up my mind NOT to get the surgery done, so
I don't have to worry about "GA"
