Bet that made the oven messy.Love it when you go christmas shopping and its cold and you buy a bag of hot roast chestnuts.

we got chestnut-ing.
they will fall off when they are ready i always thought it was more at the end of oct.
like het said they split open and you have the brown nut inside.
i like them raw.......... unless you get a horrible 1.
its the peeling them that takes the time.
cold days on the park looking for chestnuts..memories!
staffy we do / did that stick in the tree and take cover!

Heres my Chestnuts

Photos a bit poor cos it was quite dark when I got home tonight, and windy and the tree wouldn't stay still







Not worth roasting thats for sure

Heres mine but haven`t taken 1 off, left them on the tree otherwise have none left You can see its only a young tree but nuts are same as yours except yours are much riper
