I've spoken to our regular trainer and she says that that woman is talking nonsense and that Maggie has obviously been very well socialised and described her as a 'bomb proof' dog, but still.
First, Maggie is absolutely gorgeous, I can see in her eyes what a wonderful dog she is.

Second, what a typical example of an arrogant human that women was. I just wish people would not try to make dogs into humans, they react with other dogs unlike the way humans react with other humans, you have to get into the brain of a dog and understand their ancestry to appreciate this yet here we have a human who has obviously not done any of that, it makes me so mad.

Our late Baruska was wonderful with humans but could, and often would, have a go at other dogs, nevertheless had that women hit Bara across the nose she would have regretted it and most likely be minus a hand or even an arm

Please don't give up on the showing but could I please ask you not to make it an extension of yourself and go hyper competitive in order to reflect in a winning dogs glory.

In the ring there will be times when Maggie doesn't do everything right, even times when she doesn't do anything right, but just accept those times, don't please listen to the 'chatter' in the washroom, don't listen to those who profess to be experts, and above all just enjoy being with Maggie doing something together and take it as it comes.

I've never done any showing but I've been told many times about how competitive it can be and all the dirty tricks that some people get up to. That horrifies me, I wouldn't want to associate myself with such people.

This is the whole reason I decided to show her. I don't come from a dog family and the idea of showing never even entered my mind until I started to research getting a dog. It just seemed like something I could do with Maggie to keep her life different and interesting. Ya know, a day out, meeting lots of other dogs and people etc. The competitive side of things never really crossed my mind, and still doesn't.

I think if I'd had dogs before I would have had more confidence to say something to the women, but as it was, I didn't feel able to say "she's just a puppy" or "I do not hit my dog, I do reward based training" as she could so easily turn around and go "well that's obviously not working" because Maggie was having a manic moment.

Maggie is fantastic with other dogs, she just was desperate to play and was being stopped - combine that with the hall being too hot and her having not napped properly during the day. (I know that sounds like the people who say "he/she's only being friendly" while their dog is aggressive, but Maggie really is good with dogs! Her trainer constant;y says how bombproof maggie is and great with dogs of all shapes and sizes).

It's a shame, a I am now dreading showing her in a few weeks, whereas before I was looking forward to it...
