Afternoon all. Blimey Mini do you never stop baking. You must do those Gingerbread men in your sleep now.
Glad you're getting straight now Helena. That's what puts me off getting anything done - the mess. We've only got a small house & there is nowhere to shift anything to
Bet Gorden is feeling a bit better now he's home now Lynn.
It's cold here but not doing much. I've hung some washing out but I don't think it will dry.
I phoned my daughter in Newcastle earlier & it's been snowing all night there. It's about 3 inches up to now & it's still at it. She lives at the top of a very steep hill so the buses can't usually get up there then.
Have a good day everyone & hope those that are feeling poorly feel better soon

Spoke too soon, started walking around in my normal routine, breakfast etc, much ouchness. So definitely a day of study for me today. Thankfully Davie is being a wee honey, he's letting me get on with it despite our plans to go to Inverness. He's such a wee pet.

Ooh forgot to tell you about the most engaging wee pup I met yesterday. A Shar-peagle. It's a Shar-pei mixed with a beagle. Don't like the fact that they are charging for those breeds but my goodness this little thing was cute. Had the colouring of a border terrier, the wrinkles of the Shar pei and the length of body of the beagle. Very cute and sweet.

Yes you have to time it right to respond to this daily thread! I am usually too early when I log in (being 2hrs ahead and an early riser). Then more often than not by the time I remember I have 4 pages to skip over!

Who was that mentioned PACKING BOXES? I have packed them - all 3 of them - they are packed inside one another waiting for me to put stuff in them! I am on PAINTING now tarting up odds and sodds I am taking with me! Much more fun!

Ever since I had to have the TWO mattresses on my bed until I move Bella has wandered in and yip yipped for me to lift her up on to it. (Even I have to jump a bit - if I sit on the side now my feet are off the floor).

Well today she has devised a new GAME. And I'm gonna kill her if she keeps playing it. Goes into the bedroom - yip yip - I come along to pick her up and she RUNS UNDER THE BED! I go out again and same thing over and over until last time I went it and shouted STAY!!! in my loudest sternest voice and she stayed. Is now sat on the bed looking at me as if to say 'You are NO fun at all'.

Lynn - how scary! I wouldn't want to have to do that, thank goodness Gorden is safe.

Aw, I hope it goes really well. Bouncy castles are a firm favourite with kids but as Lynn says, they need to be careful. I took Carys to a play group with one and I dove to catch her when she bounced off, hurting my knee because it wasn't inflated properly.

I've not done a 'proper' big party for either children. I invited a couple of friends to a soft play area once and bought a cake and invited a couple of her friends to Michael's Christening party but that's it really.

I'm thinking of doing one in an indoor soft play area for Carys this year - it'll cost a fortune because you have to have at least 10 children but as I've saved over the last 6 years by not doing one ... .

Last year we took her to Legoland but it was dirt cheap because we used our Tesco vouchers and it was 2 for 1 if I remember right. She loved it but I know she is hoping for a party.

I sometimes wonder how Mother was after the last time I saw her in 1991 until she died - neither of my sisters ever bothered to tell me and Mother rarely wrote - mostly when I phoned her she said I had interrupted a television programme and just hung up. I mean only Mother could send my daughter a birthday card for the day before my birthday, send my twin a birthday card for our birthday the following day, but did not send me one because she forgot it was also my birthday?

They - my sisters - did not even bother to tell me Mother was in hospital and very ill. Twin phoned from the US one night and said she thought I ought to know, but still did not say what was wrong. Then phoned me 6am my time to say Mother had died.

And I still, to this day, do not know what caused her death.

I absolutely hate people who mess you about - it's as if their job is the only job that matters and you've got nothing better to do than wait around or fit round them.
Lol Pat, it wasn't CARPET, it was wood laminate, but very thick stuff cos it's supposed to actually be wood! Hence the reason for the time lapse, all those cuts, you can't squash it under door frames like you can carpet!! Hence the burning smell and all that cutting and sawing of it! Anyway, Dave has strict instructions for Monday (I will be OUT!) that if he suspects they are going to c*ck up the scotias around all the edges without doing proper mitre joints, then they can take their money and run, Dave will do it himself cos it's very expensive this scotia and they will end up costing ME money if they make a pig's ear of it. He also has instructions not to let them get any mastic out for the door architraves, cos I know Dave will do a much better job himself and use the right colour mastic. Oh Lordy, gimme strength, the mess was quite unbelievable this morning inside and out!

As I was making my porridge she went and stood at the back door, opened it and Lona on the otherside was grumbling, babies rushed in, so all was a chaos, of course then she decided she didn't want to go out after all
Need to call in at the wholesalers on the way to the vets and pick up shavings and they do a chicken and tripe free flow mince which I can't get anywhere else, so will get a couple of bags of that.
Pity you live so far away Helena, those offcuts would have burnt nicely tonight for the Saturday Party Sounds a bit horrific actually, burning the wood whilst cutting it, I think Dave was right with the Cowboy Builders Theme he was whistling!
Glad Gordon is home safe and sound, scary stuff the police escort and mirror under the car, and hope the bus starts and you get a nice morning out with Dillon.
Go back to bed with that cold Bev, you need to take Time Out from the sounds of it, although sometimes you just can't I know.
Here is an Ash Fix I've been meaning to put up but kept forgetting, I took it when he was trying to climb over the half door of the puppy palace, he was soooo nearly there, that back leg was very nearly getting to the top of the door as well, but not quite making it thank goodness, because it is a long drop onto concrete flags!!!
June, now would you pleeeeeeease, pleeeeease, pleeeeease stop posting such incredibly cute pictures of my favourite boy, I don't think I can take it anymore knowing he won't be on here for me to keep an eye on much longer

Afternoon everyone

We had a really, really glorious walk along the top of the cliffs this morning, and went zig zagging through all these little pathways on our way back along the cliff edge, it was spectacular and we were out for a very long time just walking and talking, really nice and Zena got tired and was very happy indeed when we got home because there was nobody here to disturb her except us.

Well, we cleaned all up, and I'm really excited how lovely this floor looks, it was well worth all that noise and mess yesterday (well, kind of!). I had to take yet another trip to Dunelms this morning, because my new rugs didn't do the job, I needed just one more, so we have a large one at the start near the front door, then a runner, and then another smaller one into the bathroom around the side and Dave's bedroom, so now it's all perfick! Although it is called antique grey oak, it isn't actually grey, it's a lovely pale chocolate colour which just goes fab with the colour scheme I've got going in this house, all coffee's, mink, creams and chocolate not forgetting all the white walls, which we stick with because of the Spanish theme going on here inside and out. I will do some before and after pics later cos I did remember to take photo's before they arrived yesterday.

I got the kids next door to bring the new fire upstairs and take the replacement one own to the garage (the one they couldn't pick up cos he went home with the AA man!).

Kazz, no Zena does not like anybody in her house, although of course, she accepts our visitors, but that's different, because they're in with us, but having strange men in another part of the house bashing and continually walking past where she can see behind the glass, no she didn't like that at all! She's a guard dog dontchaknow!!! It's not right is it to have men in the house who I'm not talking to!

Lorraine, sorry to hear you're still suffering, and you Bev.

Now I've forgotten everything else, so apologies for who I've missed, but Taffsmum, I can't blame you either, you'll have to train up your o/h like I have Dave to get anything done you want lol!

I'm going to unplug the phone now and have a well earned nanny nap, as estate agents always ring you at 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon to ask you if you're still looking for properties cos they've probably got nothing better to do! They won't be waking me up today!!!

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday, we've got sunshine here, wooop wooop!

Afternoon all,

Chris - pleased Rosie is fine at present - long may it last.

June - Fab photo of the adorable Ash

Lore - Good luck with all your 'catching up' and sorry your hip is still sore. The puppy you met sounded adorable.

Mini - I'm so impressed, you always seem to be cooking. I'm sure the gingerbread men will be a great hit at the twins party. I hope it goes well tomorrow.

Kazz - Hi

Pat - You spoil sport - little Bella's game sounded very inventive She clearly has a sense of humour.

Malka - Sorry, your Mum's behaviour must have been very hurtful, whatever your age. ((hugs)).

I had a nice walk with Polly but she isn't made of very stern stuff and found it too cold so we weren't out for very long. I've just finished hoovering, dusting etc etc before Keith arrives. Did a big food shop this morning and am about to take the dogs out for another walk.

My OH went up to Silverstone for the day in the old open topped car for a car meet ....... he left in the snow so I'm sure he'll be absolutely freezing when he gets back later.

Probably won't get a chance to drop in later but have a great evening one and all and see you tomorrow.

Not much more just sitting down with a coffee and a treat of a "Pain AuxChocolate" have plans to move the shelves in the spare bedroom to the dining part of the kitchen may do that after the coffee and catsey/dogsey fix it will involve my trusty power drill again. Slowly the kitchen is coming together, but much cheaper than getting a man in and a lot less hassle no waiting around and having someone in the house.

Lynn I am pleased Gordon is home safe and sound and his plan to work on the interview is a good one. Glad Dillon let you have a lie in have you decided to have him castrated or moved on from that?
Helena Glad your floor is looking good - any pictures? and does Zena not like workmen - Sal is totaly no fussed as long as they behave she has only ever too a dislike to one person who came to do work and that was about 7 years ago and I refused to let him in when he returned with the rest of his tools....I simply asked for another workman....I trusted my dogs instinct.
But I am into DIY like you dislike having people in.
Madmare Hope you feel better soon.
Mini 3 already where has the time gone how do they get older and we stay the same

Good lord unless you get in early for this daily it takes you a day to read and reply.....so to anyone poorly I say feel better soon. To anyone well I say ...keep it up.
To all of you have a great day.
Afternoon Kazz.
The kitchen will look fab I am sure when you have finished.
Dillon will be castrated and very soon hopefully. Any mans leg stranger or known to us is fair game at the moment it is getting quite embarrassing. Plus the Grandchildren aren't safe either they are all boys.

Afternoon Linda we use to take the boys out and a friend then one year I was brave and did a party for Michael and ended with a child in the pond luckily it wasn't deep. He did end up with a lot of frog spawn in his sock and shoe though and needless to say on my kitchen floor.
Never again did I do a party at home.,

I am glad you are all cleaned up and that you enjoyed your walk and have enjoyed your nanny nap uninterrupted.
We are lucky our eldest is a painter/decorator and a good one and clean and tidy and also it is nice to have someone working in the house you know.

I spoke to soon about Dillon settling after our lovely walk this morning he slept for a whole wait for it 5 minutes. He has now had his short afternoon walk and is beside me on the sofa snoozing.
