Rich,

I was browsing the O.U. site/forums and stumbled upon your name on the T155 forum.

What did you think of the course? I'd like to learn more about Linux, but in a structured manner, though it's a bit pricey. Worth it, or better off getting some good books? (the distance learning isn't an issue).

Michael

T155 pros & cons.
Cons:
Cost.
Pros:
Focuses on Ubuntu which is what you're using.
You get an end result (Pass mark on a 'certificate') to show for your efforts.
Support from fellow students.

A free alternative is this: http://ftacademy.org/materials/fsm/13#1

It seems to be based on Debian, so very similar to Ubuntu. There are quite a few really good alternatives from Major companies like IBM (Loads on their developerWorks site.) and Novell's OpenCourseWare. I recently saw someone from the Linux Professional Institute recommend the Linux Documentation Project as a good source of info. Here's an example: http://tldp.org/LDP/intro-linux/html/index.html

That's just a very small selection of stuff that I think might be useful. There is absolutely loads of courses and guides available, a lot of which are very good. Here's a further sample: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-guides-15931/ Linuxquestions is a pretty good general forum, BTW.

HTH!

It's only time that has prevented me from doing the same (I like to have plenty of time and a relaxed atmosphere when downloading stuff so if anything goes wrong I don't need to panic )
