Well ive been down to vets just now - i wasnt allowed to see her but i could here her barking and banging her bowl. nurse said isnt she naughty banging her bowl like that i informed her this is phoebes way of saying "im hungry FEED ME NOW!!!!" i took her blankets and her daddys smelly pillow case to help her settle as even the sedatives aint keeping my girl down.

i also had a little master class in how to deal with a bloat incase that happens - but think ill be going to vets and leaving it to the professionals should it happen, but still handy to know.

Wish my husband had been here to help when it happened as hes working away in ireland, and to be honest he is pretty c**p in a crisis.

i knew i loved phoebe to the moon and back but ive now realised i love her even more than that as the thought of losing her nearly ripped my heart out

Glad Phoebe's on the mend, hope you never have to go through this again. Fingers crossed she's soon home and recovering with you.

If this is the case then we're seriously screwed if Rupert ever bloats out here, our nearest vet is nearly 30 minutes away, our nearest emergency vet more than an hour away as far as I can tell!

OMG. I am sooo pleased she is going to be okay. I actually have tears welling up reading about her. It is the one thing I dread happening to my girl.
She is a differnt breed and not prone to it luckily.

I am so glad Phoebe is on the mend.

Always a worry for those of us who own deep chested dogs. A Bernese breeder once told me a spoonful of Gaviscon can give you extra vital minutes if you can get it down them.

Why, what does Gaviscon do? What does it contain that assists bloat?

Just wondering, why wouldn't the vet let you see her? Were they just trying to keep her calm? I'd have been upset if I couldn't see my dog after such a scare.

Anyway, poor old you and Phoebe! What a scare for you. Well done to you for your quick reaction and to the vets for saving her. I'm so glad she's ok

Personally I do not know it was something a Bernese breeder told me and advised me to keep some in the cupboard. I have never had the need to find out and hopefully never will.

Maybe it is an old wives tale.

I sincerely hope we are not going to have to go through the Spanish inquisition again I could not stand it had a trying day.
