Now, that DID make me laugh! I wasn't sure it was a typo as they'd got 'duck' in the same sentence and then someone quoted 'dick mince' without commenting on it too lol!

Reminds me of the first time I'd attempted to say 'I am very hot tonight' in Greek to the assembled company - I'd apparently said something equating to 'I am on heat' lol!

It took ages for my twin to live down the fact that she had told the parents of her French penfriend while staying with them that she could not go swimming because she was pregnant...

[she was 15 and definitely not pregnant!]

Mind you, I am the one who rushed my son into a hospital in Tours saying that he had been eaten by a dog...

Yes it is like the difference between

J'ai chaud and
Je suis chaud

Both mean you feel not but not necessarily for the same reasons..........

And be very careful about asking about numbers here. Saying you want number five when referring to the bus number five does not mean the same thing...

When I lived in Lebanon I had to learn the very subtle difference between

Barley
Red
Donkey

They sound the same to the beginner in Arabic but obviously you can get into trouble...........

On an unofficial campsite in the middle of nowhere, somewhere in France, in the dark and with a small boy with blood pouring from his forehead and upper lip and you expect me to remember the French for bitten?!

Bluddy dog had not had a rabies shot either.

I can't afford to eat duck myself so I'm sure a dog would be thrilled with it!
