5 years old is not too late to work on and try and change specific behaviours.

I agree with the others who have mentioned going along the herbal/homeopathic route in combination with working with a good behaviourist.

Sorry to hear about Fudge's noise problem - it's awful seeing them frightened.

I'd certainly try Scullcap and Valerian as well as a reputable behaviourist. I've used them for fireworks season (although my dog was brought up exceptionally well by the breeder, as she used fireworks tapes etc, it was the odd loud scary one that frightened her, and her recovery took a long time after the noise).

What I've found is that she can cope much much better - I get mine from vets via Dorwest
