For competition Morgan Spector's book is very good. To understand training (not a training book- more more about learning ) Pam Reid's EXcelerated Training. I Thought Donaldson's book was excellent, though her writing is more intellectual.

Anything by Barbara Sykes is excellent and have just completed a re-read of "The Dog Whisperer" by Graeme Simms (excellent book but the title too over used these days). Most of the books/DVDs I have are Border Collie specific but Barbara's books cover all even though she is considered by many to be one of the top BC specialists
