you could try leaving out the chicken for a few weeks and see if theres any difference - if theres not then reintroduce it and then do the same with another of his foods just to see

Like you say there is a connection there with the stress issue and now that Tia is no longer there it may have turned into a habit

Acral lick granulomas can occur secondary to injuries, underlying bone infection (this is a tricky diagnosis because the persistent licking can lead to periosteal inflammation around the bone making it seem like an infection was the cause), bacterial skin infection, parasites and other physical causes.

These lesions are thought to be due to stress or boredom in some dogs and even to be an obsessive/compulsive disorder in others.

I agree re: bitter apple spray - we had a bischon frise when I was younger and she used to lick her paw raw, we had to bandage her foot up so she couldn't chew it and also put the spray on. The only thing is they try and run away from their foot because they don't like the taste!!

i would think putting something on it he doesnt like the taste of may help a bit in the short term as its worked for my daughter and her finger nails
