Harry maybe the condition would have been worse without the drops? I would certainly continue with them..

I agree Mini, that's why despite the struggle every morning and every evening and Poppy's cute little puppy eyes, mum and I have been putting the drops in, and no matter how much Poppy struggles, she comes back to us for a cuddle and tummy rub a few minutes later!

Strange isn't it because if it was me being referred to a specialist and told it could be £90, I'd being saying "How much?!" but with Poppy I just went "OK".

It's the same with the hamster, he cost me £6.95 2 years ago, so far he's cost me £48 at the vets, £59 for his Rotastak house and goodness knows how much on food, treats and toys, but when it comes to animals we just pay it don't we?!

When we took our Charlie to the eye specialist, it cost £120 just to walk through the door, any examinations/tests were extra, so if I were you push for the allergy tests first, one dog I know of had very sore eyes after moving into their new home, first they thought she had dry eye, but it ended up allergy to carpets and the fact they were having rewiring done, it was the dust from that. Once it was all finished, and they went back to floor boards she's been fine since.

Update following visit to vets. As you know the eye drops have done nothing for the pinkness of Poppy's eyes. We went back to the vets this morning, looked in her eyes again and said that he doesn't think it is an allergy because there is still no watering and she's not trying to rub her eyes. He asked the senior vet to have a look and give his opinion. They are now pretty sure that it's a case of excitement causing the blood vessels to show up more in the whites of Poppy's eyes. This made sense to us as both mum and I had commented that after we've been playing tug games with Poppy her eyes are at their pinkest. Both vets said they would suggest keeping an eye on her and if there is any discharge/watering or if they do seem to be bothering her. I asked the vet what he would do if she were his dog ie would he keep an eye on her or go to the eye specialist - he said he would keep an eye on her over the next couple of weeks until I take her back for her booster. So that's what we've decided to do.

I think it was a case of the pinkness was bothering us more than it was Poppy!

Thanks for all the well wishes and advice.
