Life would be easier (it was for the 2yrs I didn't have one up until just over 2yrs ago). But 'easier' for what? I'd have less to do than I do now!

Richer? Yeah sure - to the tune of about £2K a year (not counting feeding and vet bills - that's just boarding and airfares). But I'd only spend it on some of my kids instead! I've never spent most of my money on myself.

Living in an apartment I would be lying if I said I didn't occasionally really wish I did not have to get up and out at the crack of dawn EVERY day. But I housetrained the mutt and it would just not be fair to let her have 'accidents' because she sure as hell cannot summon the lift and go down and outside!

And also that I could just choose to travel and holiday whenever the mood took me - not have to plan it round the dog and boarding and flights.

But no contest - much rather have the dog with the restrictions on freedom and wallet than not. Tried it the other way - as I said - no contest.

Money doesn't make me SMILE EVERY DAY and LAUGH every day. My dog does!

I really wouldnt know what to do with myself...Had dogs in my life since I was 6...I am 30 next year

Life without my dogs would be incredibly boring! Id hate it!

Depressing. I'd never leave the house unless to go to work. And who would I snuggle up to in the evenings?
However, I reckon I'd be better off financially

A lot less of a tie; I could go abroad, not worry about having groups of peeople over, stay late at work, go out in the evenings, not be covered in dog hair.. the possibilities are endless.

Yet when I'm doing those things I want to get back and see the dog!!! Fortunatley for me the dog is a hobby otherwise I can see why you would resent them!

yep......I would probably actually have a life tbh.

I couldn't imagine never having a dog in my life, they are the only thing that makes life worth living.

I'd be very much richer money wise and live in a hair free house but what reason would I have to get up every morning?
