Yes Jenny I would think it was wierd.

For me an undocked "good quality" dog is better that a good quality docked dog. I love dogs undocked, I would be happy if a law was passed to ban docking. Some breeds I would take docked some not, Rotties and Dobie, I don't mind a docked dog I don't mind a full tailed dog, in Vallhunds I prefer a full tail.

I do not think undocked dogs look "strange", I've seen too many for it to look strange! I'm trying to say, why bother with the tail when there are other things to worry about?

I'm going to put it this way.

It is not natural for humans to have piercings, if we were meant to have them then we would have been born with holes in our ears, nose, tongue, lips, navel, ect.! Therefore, none of us should have piercings as its not "natural" and it looks "wierd".

I'll just add now, to settle the score. I like undocked Rotties. I love them. But I also love the docked ones. Whether the dog has a tail or not does not mean it is a bad dog.

but we are talking about cutting off a part of their body. Not body piercings.

At least when a human pierces their ears.. they make that choice. Where is the dogs choice?

I agree with you Gems, but it's very very hard to find a reputable breeder who does all the relevent health tests that doesn't dock, I have one of each, Blue my undocked cocker came from a pet breeder and I was sooooooo lucky to find him, his breeder only had the one litter, when we decided on a second cocker we had no luck at all in finding a reputable breeder that didn't dock and so we now have Bailey who is docked, I love them both just as they are and wouldn't change either of them for the world, as much as undocked is my personal preference, health and temperment always comes first for me.

Rotties are beautiful to me with or without a tail

If Harley had a tail i think he would have injured it by now, because he is always wagging his stump.

I am against tail docking but Muprhy's tail was already docked when I got him (from a rescue).

I have seen a few rotties with a tail and they do look a little different but thats because were just not used to seeing them with tails, but they are lovely none the less.

Hi all

In Denmark cropping AND docking is illegal.

Up till I met Tyson last summer I had never seen a rottie with a tail.

I would never get my dog's tail docked if I were to get a Rottie or a Dobie or any other "usually" docked breed!
