Oh, Aitch......

Please don't be sad.

I can "see" Georgie, a youngster once more, running like the wind towards all the waiting playmates at the bridge.

Cassie can see him too, and soon their eyes will meet.

Both of them together again, no pain, just the special love they shared, alive once more.

They look down on you and Dave, and the sad tears you are shedding, and are grateful for your love and kindness over the years.

Time to go now.... bones to chew, chase games to play, fun to have.....

We can move this thread (and update the title that Georgie's gone to the bridge / post #159) if you want Helena - I think it might be comforting for you to read the thread as a whole, if you ever feel like coming back to it in the future.

Totally up to you tho, just let me know.

xx

Been thinking of you and Georgie all day. On our walk we saw another robin, cheeky as you like, determined to be seen.

Lily has been odd today, restless and unsettled until this evening. Strange really, but I think she might be feeling her twin Zena's sorrow.

Oh Helen, I just know your precious Cassie and gorgeous Georgie are together again xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Poor Dave will be feeling it too. You need to have a big hug and a good cry together. You both loved Georgie and you will both be feeling dreadful tonight. I think it is natural to have a bit of a snap at each other, without meaning anything by it at all ... you are just both hurting.

Have a hot bath and an early night - I bet you are shattered.

Oh H, you did the right thing at the right time... Don't you doubt yourself! He went with dignity, which is the best way.

Run free Georgie xx

H, there are no words. Today you said goodbye to a huge part of your life. Know that your precious old polar bear was loved. You showed him that by letting him cross peacefully to the bridge. But they never really leave us, we just cant see them any more.. I found this poem and thought of you. I hope it brings you a little bit of comfort. xx

I Remember
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying. You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today. Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "Good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.

Oh Helena and family, I am sooo sorry to read what has happened here. Rest assured that you have done the very best for him by releasing him from his trouble and allowing him to slip away peacefully with you at his side.

Helena, so sorry to read about Georgie on this thread. Be assured you did the right thing for him as you know. Nothing much I can add that others haven't already said just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you at this sad time.
