Well I have wondered about a second opinion but he didn't really give me any reason to doubt his diagnosis. I just didn't want to talk to him anymore about it.

No print out as such, but he showed us the lesions in his eye, said it was inherited and that it was all fine. Said the only thing would be a fail for breeding but we're obviously not doing that anyway.

Should I be questioning this further then?

You beat me to it Shonea....found out Meg's was going to scan it. But yes Pidge they are just like that and there are ranges etc., so your own vet will keep all this on record too

Another point also... did the specialist inform you he would be conveying ALL finding over to your vet.........that is the usual procedure.

If you feel, you can t speak to the specialist , talk to your vet.

The clinic will or should send all x rays/scans /ultrasound ANY results from any tests back to your vet.

I know my specialist did, the communication between the clinic and my own vet was 100% ..all results of all test where sent by next day delivery.

And my own vet also has verbal communication with the specialist.. he spoke to her, she spoke to him, and they both phoned me with their updates.

Yup -- I have copies of those for both my Labs sire and dam. Woody should have got one.

All the panellists I've seen over the last 30 + years have all been excellent & answered all the questions I have asked & one even asked me to take my dogs to him everytime we were at a show he was eye testing at because my Beardies had unpigmented Fundus & that made it easy for him to show his students what the back of a normal eye should look like.

Lost count of the number of different panellists I've seen over the years

Who was the panellist ? PM me if you don't want to"name names"publicly

Panellist? Certificate? I'm very confused.

I don't see why I can't name him? KJ Fraser, Abingdon.

I called this morning and the girl said he doesn't usual take calls until 6.45pm (am out walking with a Dogsey member then) but he'll possibly speak to me then! He is going to be writing a report to send to my vets so will chase that in a week. Not sure what else to do but thanks for the advice, at least I know what to be asking for.

I can't imagine he would have just said that's that if there was a chance of it ever progressing so it must be minor?

Also, spoke to the breeder and warned them. They were shocked and I found out that's because they didn't even know the need for health scores (no don't shout at me, you know my reasons). So I went through all the usual tests required for the ESS and discussed the importance of these checks. She was quite upset and genuinely clueless and will be getting her two (his mum and sister) done asap as well as informing the others. So I guess I've done my good deed for the day.

Pidge, just a thought, do you know if Woody's siblings are having any behavioural problems? you mentioned that his breeder has his sister.

As for the eyes, I would have thought you would have got a certificate like the one posted above. Although it could be that he sends it direct to your vet -- I don't know.
