you could try telling her to try the seeds and tell her they need to be sprinkled on a breakfast cereal - that way you kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Some years back I used to have this as I had a twisted Colon (which has been sorted now) but when times got really bad, (Now this sounds not nice folks ) I used to sit on a bucket with hot water in the bottom, the steam relaxed the muscles which enable me to go told you it wasn't nice

Steph, I am absolutely sure she will try this as right now I think she would try anything. It must be terrible, I can't even begin to imagine what you were going through

Thanks again guys, she decided yesterday to stop takingthe codeine painkillers she said she was still in so much pain and they werent helping plus she had the doc today. I phoned dad earlier and she was sleeping but have spoken to her today and she is much better. I gave her all you guys ideas and she says that if it doesnt ease she will try them, though the doc has said to go down to one satchet a day for the next 2 days and as she has stopped the codeine it should ease.

She has to see a specialist but I will update in another thread (http://www.dogsey.com/newreply.php?d...te=1&p=1560610)

Codeine is one of the worst things for giving you constipation. Your mum's GP should give her a different painkiller, there's loads of different ones.

Hope she poops soon and feels better xxx

i do sympathetic with your poor mum. im on dhydracodine and they bung me up badly. ive tried loads of stuff. im going to try some of the ideas u ladies have passed on.
i had a barium swallow monday. and ive only just been properly. what a relief i can tell u. but i cant stop taking the painkillers with out them im crawling around in agaony. so they make the pain bearable.
im seeing the doc in a week or so. so ill ask him for some *dynorod* help lol.
hope mum feels better soon

That's strange!!

I have a colostomy and was advised that bananas are a good fruit for 'colostomates' (God knows ) because unlike other fruits they don't make you 'go'!

Has she tried eating figs? Sound grim to me but apparently very good for constipation.
