I wanted to make sure my facts were right, this puppy was lovely and was very bouncy but no bouncier than Zeita is. In fact she flattened him (in a nice way). It just concerned me that they had been possibly given incorrect advice but I wasn't 100% confident. I can now pass on my new KNowledge to others should I be able to

Thanks for the replies guys as always very helpful

*cough* try asking the RSPCA what age they neuter at! *cough*

several pup in their "care" have been done at 7 weeks - and that came straight from the horses mouth

I prefer to leave dogs as long as possible, bitches after the first season

The RSPCA will neuter pups at 8 weeks.A friend of mine brought a x breed pup from an accidental litter and the owner contacted the RSPCA for advice. The RSPCA consequently neutered all the pups before they were sold to their new homes

I can understand why the RSPCA and other rescues would neuter so young as their main concern is the number of unwanted dogs but for a vet to neuter so young is IMO wrong especially to calm down a pup.

My 'boy' was done at 6 months, and my boss did the deed, with the nurse who bred him doing the anesthetic.
For bitches, the practice I am at recommends doing 12 weeks after their first season. They won't spay leading up to or during the season as 'it's too juicy' and the risk is greater for bleeding.
