Hi guys

I;m new here and i have been searching for weeks to find out about giving a dog piriton, I have a DDB who i feel is allergic to grass, everytime she comes in off the grass she has pink eyes and she has what look like hives on her body. I have had to the vet who gave her anti b's and anti inflamatory's which havent done anything, so i wanted to try piriton, she weighs approx 38Kg, and all i can find is 100mg tab's. Where can i get the 4mg ones from??

Thanks in advance

Toby weighs 16kg and the vet said 1 x 4mg tablet was the right dose for him.

The non drowsy ones contain a different active ingredient

Piriton contains chlorphenamine and Piriteze contains cetirizine. The dosage I was given was for the piriton. I don't know about piriteze.

The 4mg tablets are usually the ones you can take several times a day or just when needed. The one a day type are often 10mg. Normal piriton tablets are 4mg

Its worth checking with your vet though, especially if you are using any other medicines

Thanks for your reply, she isnt on anything at the moment, i'll nip to boots tomorrow and get some piriton for her.

I have found that she should need about 3 tabs a day so i will see how she gets on

Rachy's old dog was a mini schanuzer, the dog came out in hives with bumps all over its back etc and gave him a spoonful of kids piriton syrup and he nearly died.....just something to bear in mind if you use it..... he went into shock couldn't move, couldn't stand up, could hardly breathe.....

Kiba is 37.1kg and was stung last week around his eye, some of you may remember the board I posted. My vet said he could have 2 tablets up to 3 times a day but not more than 6 in 24 hours.

My dog is on very high doses of Piriton and Ucerax for Atopy.

She gets 4 Piriton and 4 Ucerax a day. She weighs 28kg - but like I say she is on very high doses.

Peedie - 1 and a half sounds about right but to be honest - you probably wouldn't do any harm giving her 2.

Just for everyone's confirmation - dosage advice was given to me by a Veterinary Dermatologist with 20+ years experience.

Toby is 16kg and my vet said just 1 tablet. You should really get vetinary advice for your particular dog.

I would start with a smaller dose anyway to check if there was any reaction
